Sisi Mabe is the MEC for Public Works and Rural Development in the Free State. She was born in Phiritona, Heilbron. She became the MEC for Public Works and Rural Development in February 2011 and was previously MEC for the Free State Department of Health.Mabe is a teacher by profession, studying at the Sefikeng College of Education, Qwaqwa. She holds an Honours degree in Leadership and Management and a Masters in Policy Studies and Governance from the University
of the Free State.
While working as a teacher, she was elected as an executive member of SADTU responsible for gender issues. She was later elected as Regional Executive Member of the ANC and became the Regional Treasurer in the ANC Women’s League.
Mabe is a member of the Free State Legislature. She has served on the Provincial Judicial Committee the National Council of Provinces and the Magistrates Commission. She has also served as a member of the Local Government and Housing Portfolio Committee.
